I had a brace but now my teeth have moved back into their original place, what do you suggest?

Q.

Hello

I got braces when I was 13 and had them taken off when I was 15. I broke my retainer and didn’t go back to get another one.

My top teeth are relatively straight. Perfect to me, but my bottom jaw has gone onky again. My central incisors have moved backards. Other than that there are no other faults that I can see.

How much would it be to get train tracks on my lower jaw again?
& is there any alternative methods to straightening my teeth other than the train tracks?

Thanks for your time

I have just finished wearing braces, can I now get implants?

Tuesday, May 31st, 2011
Q.

hi i recently finished having braces and under the advice of my orthodontist went for closing my missing lateral incisors with canines instead of implants on the top teeth. however since then i have regretted my decision and didn’t want to reshape them as i didn’t think they’d look normal anyway. is it possible to re-open these spaces when i have the money as an adult (i also had two premolars extracted at the bottom for treatment, could i replace these or is there no point?). if i can could you tell me how long you think it might take? thanks

What brace options are best for my teeth?

Tuesday, May 31st, 2011
Q.

Hi Sunita,
I just wanted to ask about what treatment you could recommend for my teeth. I am 18 and have never been confident with my teeth, so much that I don’t like smiling at all in photo’s and feel really held back by them. They are fairly crooked and the front two are pushed more to the front that the rest. Not only this but it looks slightly crowded and my canine on one side is much smaller than the other. It’s sounds picky, many people say they are okay, but I feel really bothered by them and my dentist did say they needed straightening out with a brace or something. I wanted to ask your advice on this. I am funding myself as I am 18 and wanted to know whether a brace or the new Invisalign would be better, and if veneers would be appropriate? I hope you understand how this has affected my confidence,
Thank you,

I had brace work at 10 but my front teeth stick out, what can I do?

Tuesday, May 31st, 2011
Q.

Hello,

I had braces when i was 10 for 3 years! Unfortuantly they didn’t take any teeth out and now my front two teeth stick out and the gums have start to receed, i also suffer with grinding my teeth at night which has caused the back one’s much problems (i have been doing it since my grandad died when i was 15) and now my dentist wants to take one out as it’s causing me so much pain. The thing is i do not want it out as i am worried they will go even more wonky and cause me even more trouble, i can not afford braces as i am a single mum (I am working but still not alot of spare cash) is there any chance that i would be able to get some sort of insurance so i can claim for the braces or would the NHS do it for free seeing as they made the mistake in the first place? BTW i am now 24.

Thank you

Will my teeth shift after brace work if I don’t wear retainers?

Tuesday, May 31st, 2011
Q.

In my teens I had four teeth removed and wore standard braces (on the NHS)for around 2.5 yrs. The results were great. I was given a retainer to wear at night and I remember that although I was good at first it wasn’t long until I started forgetting and eventually it got lost. Now I am hearing people say that a retainer is for life. Certainly no one every old me that! Now I’m worried that my teeth have shifted. I keep studying them in the mirror. Maybe I’m being paranoid – I’m still complimented on my teeth – but after all the discomfort I went through with braces I don’t want to risk them going crooked again.

Please can you tell me if it is possible that my teeth have moved over the years and could move in the future? They are pretty straight so I think if they have moved it has not been by that much. But if it is a gradual thing I am wondering if it’s worth me getting a retainer made to protect against movement in the future (and maybe do a little correction if there’s room for improvement). I’d be interested to know how much I might have to pay if there’s only a little correction needed. I’m sorry for the 101 questions!

Many thanks in advance,

What are the best invisible braces?

Tuesday, May 31st, 2011
Q.

Hi Rob

My situation is that i have pretty awful teeth due to growing up scared due to the way they look…and still I dont like the idea of having the classic metal visible braces. If it was up to me I would get some sort of surgery even if it means not having my original teeth but my girlfriend just won’t allow that to happen. So i’m looking for a quick cheap and non visible way of straightening my teeth…but arnt we all?

I am aware of invisalign but I hear the worse shape your teeth are in then the more it will cost so in my case that will means 5k+

Regards

I have slanted front teeth but cannot have braces because of my baby tooth.

Q.

hi there, i just wanted some information from you. my front two teeth are slanty because i have a baby tooth which cannot be removed because my dentist said that if they put braces on me then that baby tooth may fall out because a lot of pressure will come on to it, and there is no other big tooth behind it. so i just wanted to know if you could do anything to them to make them straight?or if you can straighten my teeth and make my baby tooth look bigger? and how much would this cost? thanks

I have gaps between my teeth after my brace work has been ‘completed’, what should I do?

Monday, May 23rd, 2011
Q.

Dear doctor,

I am still having my braces on but i noticed holes in where my gums were supposed to be. It looks something like Fig 11 and 13 in this website.

http://www.oralhealthjournal.com/issues/ISarticle.asp?aid=1000151498

My orthodontist said it is not going to grow back on its own. Is there a type of gum implants or treatment for my problems? Or should i ask for her to push my teeth deeper into the gumline?

THANK YOU!
