Friday, February 21st, 2014
Q.

Hello, Dr Moore. My two front teeth feel a little crooked to me. I was wondering what the best way is to just get them straighter? I had braces and think I took them off a little earlier than usual and my smile looks better, the bottom teeth are straight and the ones at the top are but my two front teeth are off, can you help? I don’t have a lot of money to spend I’m a college student I would really just love to fix this problem. Thank you in advance for any information you can provide.

I Hate The Gap Between My Two Front Teeth And I Want It Fixed. What Should I Do?

Wednesday, February 19th, 2014
Q.

Hi Dr Moore. I am 19 years old and I have a gap in between my two front teeth, but apart from that my other teeth are virtually perfect. I hate the way my teeth look so much, because of my gap (it’s caused by one of my front teeth being crooked). I really want this one tooth sorted out so that I can smile with my teeth for once! What should I do? I was never advised to get braces when I was a child because my dentist thought my gap would close as I got older. Please, I hope you can help and give me any advice, many thanks.

What Is The Best Toothpaste And Mouthwash To Use For Sensitive Teeth?

Wednesday, February 12th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Hughes, I have 3 or 4 teeth on the bottom front that are not straight and two are being pushed out a little. I also have a little tartar build up on the back front teeth. Someone told me if I wore a retainer it would help straighten them out, is this true? What will the dentist do about my problem? What is the best toothpaste and mouthwash to use for sensitive teeth? It is crazy because in my family for some reason teeth are not very strong. I floss and brush and I seem to still have some problem here and there. Thank you for your time.

Do All Dentists Offer Lingual Braces And Is There Any I Can Get Through The NHS?

Wednesday, February 5th, 2014
Q.

Hi ya there, I’m 25 and I was wondering that because I’m on employment allowance support and I need a brace really bad, whether could I get it for free? I really don’t want a standard brace but if I can’t get another type of brace I would. I don’t know whether my dentist would do all kinds of different braces like Invisalign and also would the NHS help me with this? If you could be so kind and reply back to me you would really help me. Many thanks, I hope you can help me with advice.

I Snapped A Tooth Playing Rugby. I’m Worried The Filling Supporting My Broken Tooth Will Break As I Wear Braces. Could This Happen?

Friday, January 31st, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Hughes, about 1 year ago half of my tooth snapped whilst playing rugby so half of my tooth is made out of filling. Will my braces snap the filling off? I am worried, I have had braces for 1 year already but I fear it will snap off. I hate tooth ache, half the tooth is still there and the brace is on both so not all the pressure is on the filling but I’d just like to know if there’s a chance the filling could snap off during my braces treatment. I hope you can help me to put my mind at rest over this. Thank you.

Can You Tell Me If A Maryland Bridge Is An Effective Way To Cover A Gap In My Smile?

Tuesday, January 21st, 2014
Q.

Hi, I am a 37 year old male with advance stage periodontal disease and my gums have receded. My front lower jaw tooth has been removed, causing a gap. The neighbouring front teeth are weak and also have receded gums. My dentist has given me a removable brace which I find to be very uncomfortable. Is this pain normal when it comes to braces? Can you tell me if Maryland bridge is an option and I if it can cover my front tooth gap in effective way? Are there any other options? Thank you and I looking forward to hear from you.

I Was Told I’d Have To Pay For An Implant Privately After The NHS Extracted My Tooth. Is This Correct?

Tuesday, January 14th, 2014
Q.

Hi Dr Moore, I have just got back from an NHS dentist and one of them said I need a root canal. Then that dentist left for another practice and handed me over to his colleague, I was advised by his colleague that the root canal would not work and that my best option would be to have the tooth extracted? I had no choice to agree as I had just got over an abscess in that tooth, after the extraction I asked what the next step was, as I am now left with a big gap in my smile line, and she said I will have to pay private for an implant or braces to push the teeth together. Could you offer me any advice on what I should do, I can provide photo’s of the tooth and gap.

Can I Still Have Invisalign Treatment With A Few Missing Teeth?

Monday, January 13th, 2014
Q.

Hello,
I am a 28 year old male who is looking to straighten his teeth without unsightly braces. I am looking to have Invisalign work done. However, I do have two teeth missing on the upper jaw, is it possible to still have Invisalign?

Also, as it is quite expensive, what payment plans are offered for this kind of treatment?
This is a problem that I have had for some time. I hope you can answer my question as I’d love to have a straighter smile. Kind regards.

I’m Scared I’ll Lose Two Teeth As I Have An Overbite. Would I Be Suitable For Damon Braces?

Monday, January 6th, 2014
Q.

Hi Mark. I would like some information from you. I’ve had fixed braces for about two years now but my orthodontist says I need two upper teeth taken out and I am incredibly scared of dentists. I heard about the Damon system but my parents are having none of it but I am NOT having those teeth out I was wondering what the price would be? I have an overbite according to one orthodontist but my jaw’s too far back according to another. I just want to know if I could be right for them. Thank you for taking the time to address my concerns.

I Am About To Have Braces And Surgery To Correct An Open Bite. I’d Like To Know If There Are Any Methods Of Curing Tongue Thrusts Also?

Friday, January 3rd, 2014
Q.

Hi Dr Hughes, I’m 17 and I have an open bite. I am about to get braces on in preparation the have the surgery to improve this problem. However one of the orthodontists I visited said he could not help me due to the problem being caused by my tongue (this was before I was considered for surgery). None of the other orthodontists I have seen have mentioned my tongue so I was wondering if I should mention it to them however I don’t want them to be like the first orthodontist and say they can’t do anything about it. Do you know any methods to get rid of tongue thrust? Thank you in advance for any advice you can provide me with.
