Is Invisalign the best treatment to straighten my top teeth?

Monday, January 23rd, 2012
Q.

I’ve a slight overcrowding on my top set causing a front tooth to overlap (from centre, 3rd over 2nd). So only cosmetically am i wanting treatment (similar to Holly Willoughbys i’m thinking). I’m not interested in any visibly obvious braces due to my age (21). I’ve already tried my local Dentist/Orthodontist who only offer old fashioned methods. I’ve heard of Invisalign but i’m aware they’d mean many visits as they’re a course. I’m willing to travel for decent results but unable to committ for something over demanding. I’d also prefer speedy work! Please advise where best to start.Thank you.

What is the best option to close my front tooth gap?

Monday, January 23rd, 2012
Q.

I have an 1/8 in gap between my two front teeth and I was wondering if you would recommend orthofill bands as a solution…or what would you recommend.. its unsightly to me. I’ve done quite a bit of research on orthofill sounds OK except I haven’t had any expert advice I would appreciate some pointers. Also I am a 23 yr old male and have been wanting to fix the problem since my teen years it always embarrassed me. I would love to smile with confidence and would rather not get braces if there is another way being my teeth are really straight other than the gap. Thanks

Are braces a better option to veneers for straightening my crooked teeth?

Monday, January 9th, 2012
Q.

Hi Rob,

I’m a 29 year old male from the East Midlands. I have what i would call severely crooked top teeth. This has had a major impact on my life, from relationships and interviews, to learning to even speak and laugh differently to hide my teeth. My top teeth are crowded and one of the top two front teeth angles back into the mouth and the other protrudes.

I have never been able to afford treatment but have just been made redundant and will be getting a reasonable pay-out, i have decided i want to look into getting my teeth sorted as they make me very unhappy.
Going to the dentist makes me very anxious as i am ashamed of my teeth, i did ask about correcting them a few years ago and was quoted £7500.00 for veneers. Even with my pay-out, this is still a little to much than i can afford.

I was just after advice really, i would rather avoid metal ‘train-tracks’ if possible, but have heard about others such as Clearstep and Inman aligners. From the very basic summary of what i’ve said, and the hindrance of not being able to see my teeth, would you think i can get anything done for say £5000.00? Are braces the best option for me, and will Clearstep or Inman be suitable for my degree of crookedness?
Any help is much appreciated.

Kind regards

What options do I have for straightening my pointed canines?

Thursday, December 22nd, 2011
Q.

Dear Dr. Hughes,
I am a 20 year old female. My upper canines have basically been bugging me all throughout my teenage years and whether I like it or not, they make me very self conscious. My left upper canine is very pointy and sort out jolting out, whilst the right one is slightly less ugly but still pointy. I have been to a dentist some years ago who had said I need to get braces but this is an option which I really am not keen on as it would take a long time and I just don’t want them. What other options might there be for me? Would I be able to undergo some form of surgery? It is a dream to ever have a normal healthy-looking smile one day and I really hope braces is not the only option there is out there for me.

Many thanks for your time

Kind regards,

I am 26 and I don’t want to have train tracks again, what other braces options are there?

Monday, November 28th, 2011
Q.

hi andrew, when i was a teenager i had braces for 4 years and the result was very good, as advised i kept my retainer in for 6 months (since i have read i should have kept them in for a lot longer)…since then they have slowly reverted back to there old shape, i am now 26 and really do not want to wear the dreaded train tracks again, what other possibilities are there and would behind the teeth braces rectify this problem….the main problem is my two teeth either side of my front teeth are behind, thanks for your time

I have abnormally shaped gaps between my teeth, what is the best treatment to close them?

Monday, November 28th, 2011
Q.

I m a 30 year old otherwise healthy female. I have gaps between my upper incisors which are abnormally shaped ( tapering at their lower ends, instead of being square). I am not sure if my upper row of teeth protrude slightly or the gap between my teeth causes this appearance.
If i were to go in for a smile makeover, please advise on the following
a) dental procedures you would need to carry out
b) approximate time required
c) approximate expenses
d) post procedure treatments/ maintenance required if any

Many thanks for your advice

Should I have cosmetic treatment or just settle for dentures?

Friday, November 25th, 2011
Q.

I am a 65 years old female with quite crooked bottom and top teeth. I have twice had my top front teeth treated, the last time (about 10 years ago) when I had a veneer on one tooth to bring it into line and a crown on the other one because it was crooked. However I have always thought this crown was quite large and didn’t look right – this was made obvious when none of my friends ever mentioned that I’d had anything done! I would like to have something done with this top tooth but don’ t know what – my dentist who is new to the surgery suggests visalign on my top and bottom but I cant afford it – a few hundred is my lot! I have thought about having them all out and a set of dentures – my husband isn’t happy! My bottom teeth (although I have had teeth whitening treatment on them) are still marked on the very bottoms Should I just give up at my age?

Can veneers ‘fill’ out my smile?

Wednesday, November 9th, 2011
Q.

I’m wondering if veneers are the answer. I hate my smile, my teeth and jaw are very small. They don’t “fill out” my smile. It really affects me day to day.I had braces for overcrouding years ago, and found a new found confidence when wearing my retainer afterward simply because it made my teeth bigger. They fit my mouth and face better and found myself comfortable smiling in public and photographs. I’m wondering if i can get that same confidence back from veneers? will they be able to give me the same result? My teeth are slightly stained and crooked, but i’m looking for something that will make them bigger as well. It’s a very big problem for me and i’m determined to finally get it sorted so i can smile with confidence again. Hope you can help,
Amy
