Hi, I need some advice please. I’m 45 and I have struggled with my teeth from being a little girl. My front teeth were knocked out due to an accident when I was 8. I have been told ever since I was a little girl that I have poor teeth and gums. I don’t smoke. I drink occasionally. I feel all my life I have had treatment on my teeth or gums. I’ve just paid out again over £1500 to have deep cleaning on my gums (which as you will be aware is not a nice experience) my front teeth have formed a gap. I’m thinking of the 6 month smile, which again will cost a lot of money. Then my front 4 teeth which are caps, replaced with new ones. Not sure of cost of that yet. I know some of my teeth are going to have to be removed as they are very painful. My gums constantly ache. Shall I give up and go for full dentures and have all my teeth removed? The thought of no more pain is very appealing. Help!

I had braces and think I took them off a little earlier than usual and my smile looks better, the bottom teeth are straight and the ones at the top are but my two front teeth are off, can you help? Also cost, as I don’t have a lot of money? I’m 21 years old and I’m unhappy about how my teeth look. They’re really overcrowded. I wouldn’t consider a brace any more, as I would be self-conscious about how it looked to others, seeing as I’m older now. Tuesday, October 15th, 2013Hello, I’d like to make a query about 6 month smile. Would it be cheaper with NHS and could I send in recent jaw and teeth pictures taken by a orthodontist for your expertise as I am not able to attend? I’ve done the same thing with other clinics who excepted them.
I am currently wearing Damonite Braces (white base with a metal wire running over) and was told for my condition it would take at least 1 year – 1.5 years.
I was wondering would it be possible to keep the current base and modify it, somehow switching over to 6 month smile. I am hoping to cut the costs as I have already invested so far.
I would be present for treatment time, but just now I am not in England to attend a consultation.

Wednesday, October 9th, 2013Hello Dr Hughes, My dentist recently told me I have a “relatively mild malocclusion involving a class 2 division, 1 incisor relationship with a 6mm overjet and a 2mm midline diastema in the upper arch”. I was wondering if I would be able to get jaw surgery for the overjet or would braces alone fix that problem. Also would 6 month smiles fix it or do you think having braces on for about a year or 2 will be better. My dentist has not said anything yet about it so I want a second opinion. Thanks.

Monday, May 13th, 2013Hi Dr, I used to have bracket braces years ago, my teeth had straightened however my front upper two teeth have gradually come forward since and I feel that they stand out which I don’t like. It has really annoyed me since I thought I was done with the whole braces thing but more so it’s started to knock my confidence again. Friday, August 31st, 2012Hello, I am male and 21 years old. My upper front four teeth have drifted outside alignment by about 1.5 cm from their normal position. I want to make them shift back to their normal position. I have heard about some available treatments relating to this problem but i am still getting confused about what to do and what steps to take next. Wednesday, May 16th, 2012I have heard about something called the six month smile and was wondering if it could be something that would work for me. I have a gap between my front two teeth and slightly uneven teeth either side. It’s never been a massive issue but due to personal circumstances I would like to be looking my best. I also want my teeth whitened. Does the treatment mean that you can only have treatment that would take 6 months and also how can it work in such a short time when braces can take a few years?Thank you any any help would be great.
