Can you recommend what to do about my impending treatment for an abscess and dental phobia?

Q.
I am dental phobic and I’m suffering from an abscess. In the past I have had sedation but I still couldn’t have the treatment as I was terrified. I am in so much pain and discomfort I really don’t know what to do. My mum would pay for me to have treatment but I need to be asleep. Any suggestions? I live in Taunton, Somerset.

You could try to ask your dentist to refer you to a hospital for removal of the tooth under a general anaesthetic instead of using sedation if this didn’t help last time
