Can you have a braces at the same time as having a bridge?

Q. Can you wear an orthodontic appliance(brace) at the same time as having a bridge? My son has a missing tooth ( 3rd along from front) on one side and the other side it is misaligned ( high up in gums). Apart from that his teeth are straight so what is best option ?

A. Hi many thanks for your email, it sounds as if he decides to go ahead with orthodontics the gap could be completely closed with this, so there would be no reason for a bridge. my advice would be to seek the advice of a orthodontist.

I have 2 crowned teeth with one false tooth – all at the front of my teeth. I am getting them replaced. My dentist said i will have a temporary bridge for 2 weeks. Will the temporary bridge look very artifical and do I need any prep work for the temporary bridge or do I just turn up and get the temporary bridge? I keep thinking surely I would need an impression taken of my teeth even to get a temporary bridge? Also the dental appointments I have been given mean I will be on holiday for 5 days to Russia in the middle of the 2 weeks when the temporary bridge will be in place. Does that seem reasonable? I would have 5 days at home before my holiday and after the temporary bridge has been fitted. thanks

Good dentists make good temporaries and within reason you will fine, avoid sticky foods. Let your dentist know about the travel plans.
