Can tooth cap be whitened?

Q. hello, i am interested in getting my teeth whitened but have a cap on my front tooth where i chipped it when i was younger. will this have an affect on my teeth getting whiter or will the cap whiten aswell? thankyou.,
A. Thanks for your questions, If you were to have teeth whitening this would not lighten any restorations you have. When a patient with a crown enquires about teeth whitening, I explain that for the best overall results, they would need to have teeth whitening and then have the crown replaced. This allows the dentist to match the shade of the new crown to the whitened teeth.I hope this will be helpful.Kindest RegardsDr Kailesh Solanki

Hiif you get your teeth whitened , you will will require to change your crown. Teeth whitening does not change the colour of the crowns.
