Can smile lumineers be removed if something goes wrong?

Q.
I am looking at getting Lumineers. I have a capped tooth in front and it makes my teeth not look the same. I am seeing a Dr @ Advanced Dental Arts. Smile Lumineers is what she uses. We’ve talked alot about it but I wanted to get more advice on this. Can they be removed later if something were to go wrong and my normal teeth be ok. Thank you
A.
Dear Enquirer,
Lumineers are no prep veneers, which means the dentist does not need to do any preparation of the teeth onto which the veneers fit.In theory, you can remove the lumineers if you wanted to, but I would not advise this as it is an extremely difficult process to remove the porcelain and the underlying cement without touching the underlying enamel. Your teeth underneath should still be normal as long as you have looked after your teeth with good oral hygiene procedures, but it is difficult to guarantee that during removal of the lumineers or any other type of veneer,(which have to be drilled off)that the underlying tooth is not disturbed.

It depends on your teeth you are very young so you must remember any cosmetic work will need to be replaced several times in your liftime.
