can my daughter have orthodontics after heart surgery
Q. Is there any orthodontic treatment that my daughter should avoid as she has had heart surgery and has an increased risk of endocarditis?
A.
Orthodontic treatment involves the moving of teeth and as such there should be no reason for your daughter not to have treatment even though she has had heart surgery. If she requires any teeth to be removed and she is on warfarin then her INR would need to be controlled prior to tooth extraction to prevent post operative bleeding.
