Can I Replace my First Molars With New Wisdom Teeth?

Q.
Hi, can I replace my 1st molar (which is full of amalgam) with new wisdom teeth? I am 18 years old and my second molar is fine. Does such treatment exist? If so could you tell me of a possible price range and whether I need to go to a specialist (or can my normal dentist do the job)? I have a filling on all 4 first molars, will I be able to replace them all with wisdom teeth? Thanks in advance.

Hi, thank you for your question. No, you can’t replace them, but you can replace the fillings with white fillings, your dentist will be able to give you further information on this procedure. Regards, Mark.

Hi,

I’m just wondering why this isn’t done in the UK? Tooth replacement with wisdom teeth is commonly done in the U.S. and is quite successful (and much cheaper and healthier than implants).
