Can I put a veneer on a dental implant ?

Q. One of my front teeth is a dental implant in my jaw. Is it still possible to put a veneer on it? Thanks R

A. Dear R,

My first question to you is why do you need a veneer? Presumably there is some colour mismatch with the adjacent teeth. Although possible it is not generally advised, due to the difficulty with bonding it to the existing crown and the distinct possibility of the underlying substructure ( which is usually metal) showing through.. It would be much simpler to have a new crown made.
