Can I have the root canal treatment done in a hospital under anaesthetic?

Q. Ive just been to the dentist for root canal treatment and the injection to numb wouldnt numb it, i had 2 injections and still i could feel the pain..the dentist has dressed it and given me antibiotics because she says it hurts because its infected, i have to go back in a week to have it done again. I hate going to the dentist and is becoming more of a fear as ive got older, is it possible to have this done under an anescetic in hospital?,
A. Root canal would not normally be done under a general anaesthetic, However in some cases sedation might help. Generally the next visit should not be problem as the first visit usually starts to improve the situation. Hope this helps Rob
