can i have a temporary denture as my tooth is falling out

Q. I have a very lose front tooth which my dentist says will fall out sooner rather than later, How do I go about having a temporary denture fitted. cause during making an impression this will bound to, maybe pull the offending tooth out..What alternatives do i have, this is really starting to worry me.I,m not the greatest dentist visitor.even at my age of 57 still so nervous but the thought of a gap in my front teeth is a terrible thought..regards for you time and help

There are a few options using a fibre reinforced splint or fibre reinforced bridge that can be made at the chairside from your existing tooth. They are not often used as a permenant solution but it would solve the problem of an accidental tooth removal if the tooth comes out in the impression.

The first step is a thorough clinical examination which does not have to include impressions. This way your dentist can plan a solution with some alternatives if you need a back up . Also you need a treatment fees estimate for each option.

I think that you would probably need an extensive exam and Xrays to answer your qusestion and come up with a few treatment plans. Expect to pay around £50 for exam Xrays etc as a private patient.

OUr practice would be very happy to help.
