Can I Get Braces or Veneers on the NHS?

Q.
Hello Dr Gambroudes. I am currently on income support, so am unable to afford private dental treatment. I’ve had major mental health problems due to issues I’ve had with my teeth and the way they look. I suffer from depression and major anxiety as a result of the state of my teeth. The way they look is so upsetting to me and it plays on my mind every day, I feel as though I can’t go to social events because people will stare at me. Would I be able to get braces or veneers on the NHS due to the mental health impact on my life? I never go out due to people looking aand judging me based on my teeth. Thank you.

Hi, I’m very sorry to hear of your situation. The only way that you can find out if you qualify for NHS treatment would be that you go to hospital, or ask your dentist refer you to hospital. Kind regards, Marcus Gambroudes.
