Back teeth removed at age 26 can I wear dentures or caps?

Q. Hi Doctor, I am a 26yr old male and I had three of my back teeth removed yesterday. Two on my right lower jaw and one at the left upper jaw. I was just wondering how, if I was one of your patients, you would go forward from here. Can I wear dentures or caps or what.

A. If you were one of my patients I would want to know why you were losing 3 teeth at 26 years old. The first priority would be to control any causative factors.

If you choose not to replace the missing teeth you can manage on around 20 teeth if they have good functional contacts when your jaw closes to chew.

Replacing the missing teeth depends on whether there is a tooth either side of the gap. If there is and the teeth are in reasonable condition, you could have a bridge. If there is no back tooth you would require an implant or a denture, your suitability for either option requires a thorough examination and possible special jaw scans in the case of implants.

We offer a free consultation as a first step , you can then discuss costs carry out further tests & decide on your options

Hi Doctor,

I just broke a piece of tooth off the 2nd last tooth from the back of my mouth. Half the filling is exposed but not painful. The exact same tooth on the opposite side has also got a filling and is more or less equal to my gum. I am extremely scared to go to the dentist and cannot afford it at this stage either. Right next to the broken tooth for the last year, since I experienced a terrible ear ache I had this ‘looks like a pimple ‘ on my gum. One day it is swolen and the other day it is flat. I am really worried about that too. I am scared to leave it, but more scared to go to the dentist. I am 34, would I need dentures? Does this ‘pimple’ affect my teeth?

how much will it cost to repair a broken front tooth?,

Alfredo Says :

It really depends on how broken the tooth is, is there decay ? infection ? Then it depends on what type of restoration is needed to fix the tooth ie a filling or crown.

as a guide dentistry is cheaper in the UK, treatment will probably take 3-6 months with the crown lengthening surgery

I have been to a dentist and he said my teeth are so bad they need to be pulled and just get dentures. Some are misssing some have old fillings. My gums hurt alot of times. They are also stained/yellowish.I DONT WANT DENTURES…Do I have any other options???? I would like treatment but I’m too afraid to have all of my teeth pulled and I certainly dont want to have dentures at all

Dear Enquirer, If you have a failing dentition and you need to have several/all your teeth out, you have two choices 1. Full dentures 2. Implants which are fixed restorations Regards

I have had a full upper denture for around thirty years. Last year i had an operation to remove a small salivary gland tumour in thepalate area and had a new denture made a couple of months later. Since theoperation I have found that wearing the denture is uncomfortable especiallyin the palate area and I am considering the option of an implant supportedupper denture provided that I am a suitable candidate and that the price for the treatment is within my means. I would appreciate any advice on thissubject

I am having to have the remaining molars on the top both sides one one my left and the remaining two on the right removed due to caries. This will leave me with no molars on the top. I was told that an old capped tooth on the bottom right is not restorable and it will ha be to be removed leaving me with no molars on that side. On the bottom left I have three remaining molars that have 30 year old fillings that are kept in place with pins.
I am wondering wha t kind of denture I could get to replace missing teeth. I would like implants but they are costly and my insurance only covers one implant at a time and I will need four with a bridge either side.

Would appreciate your help
