Are there no other options but to have all my teeth removed?
Q.
Hello I was wondering if you could give me some advice . I saw a dentist today who told me I have to all my teeth removed and my only option is to have denture as my gums are damaged and infected. I really don’t like that idea and was wondering if I have any other options? I haven’t been to a dentist for many years and my teeth are bad to the point were most are either broken gone or wobbily. I was hoping to have more perminent teeth can you help?

A.
It sounds like you have advanced periodontitis (gum disease). If it severe enough you may lose all or some of your teeth, My advice would be to get the opinion of a Specialist Periodontist as soon as possible. If any of the teeth can be saved then it might be wise then to visit with another dentist or Prosthodontist to discuss how to reconstruct your mouth. If teeth have to be removed (some or all of them) then maybe dental implants can be used instead of just dentures?
