Are there any significant dangers of having your wisdom teeth extracted?

Q. i am due to have my top wisdom tooth extracted due to recurring symptoms of pericoronitis.i am very worried as i have been told by friends the procedure is dangerous as the tooth is linked to the brain nerves.could you tell me if there are any significant dangers or side effects?,
A. The only dangers of having the upper wisdom teeth extracted is perforating the sinus. This is a rare occurrence and would have been properly assessed by your Dentist to see if it is likely to happen. Dont be put off by the horror stories of wisdom teeth extration, the lower ones are often much more difficult!
