Am I Suitable for CEREC Treatment, and How Much Will it Cost?

Q.
Hi, I used to have a wide gap at the front of my upper teeth, which was capped in the 1980’s. I have these 2 big teeth which are very noticeable when I smile. I’m very conscious of them, and rarely smile with my teeth showing now, only with my mouth closed. I’ve asked my dentist if I can have all my teeth at the top re-capped to look even in size, but they won’t do it. I’m thinking that I have another 12 years to work until retirement, and don’t really want to be conscious all the time. Would CEREC crowns be possible on my teeth, and how much would it cost?

Hi there, thanks for your question.

This is quite a common problem, so you’re not alone!

Removing the crowns and replacing them is of course an option. The best solution may be a combination of orthodontic treatment (to move your own teeth into a slightly better position and reduce the size of the spaces between the teeth) combined with restorative treatment to make your teeth look more natural.
Orthodontic treatment can now be done almost invisibly, and will certainly improve the final result aesthetically.

Cerec crowns can be excellent in certain circumstances but for a more life-like, natural appearance, different types of ceramic may give a better result. A lithium disilicate ceramic (for example E-max) can give a very life like result and in most cosmetic restorative cases, this would be the material of choice. The prices of these crowns will vary between different dentists, but on average would be 700-1000 per tooth.

I hope this helps.

Kind regards,

Mark.
