After suffering from Periodontist I need a new set of teeth. Help?

Q.
Dear Dr Hughes
I suffer from Periodontist in the most advanced form I have lost seven teeth in the top and a lot more are loose. I did receive treatment in the newcastle dental hospital and they got it under control. They say that i have to stop smoking because it will make it worse. I see my dentist every 3 months for a scale and polish but i am not happy with the treatment i am receiving. He made me two sets of teeth in the last year and i cannot wear them. My bite does not meet. So I am know going to go to a private cosmetic dentist and wonder if you know if i can get a full set of cobalt chrome dentures made.
thank you
A.
Hi, Yes you will be able to get a set of cobalt chrome dentures to replacing missing teeth. It is also important to get you periodontitis under control again. I would suggest you find a cosmetic dentist who works closely with a periodontist (gum specialist) and ideally stop the smoking which exacerbates the condition. The best place to start would be through the BACD website – see https://www.bacd.com/public/find-cosmetic.html
Good luck
Mark
