After Having A Root Canal And A Crown Fitted Shortly Afterwards, I’m Experiencing Discomfort. Has It Failed?

Q.
Hello Andrew. I have a problem that I would like to discuss with you. I have just had a root canal done and after almost 2 weeks everything had settled with the temporary dressing, no pain. Then I went back a week later for a crown to be fitted and now I’m experiencing a mild pain and the crown is quite sensitive to touch when pushing on the side. It’s not particularly pain just a persistent discomfort, please help. Should I tell my dentist? Does it sound like it failed? I’m terrified, I also has the nerve removed on this same tooth. I’ve found the whole procedure has made me very depressed. Thank you.

Hello and thank you for writing in. Yes, you should definitely let him know so he can check the new crown. It’s always important to tell your dentist exactly how your teeth feel, especially after treatment. Hopefully they can help with this and you can move on. I hope this helps. Best wishes, Dr Andrew Moore.

Please help. I will soon have to make a decision on dentures – possibly two or three front teeth. What I need to know: would private dentures look better, presumably because of the material and fit etc. that they use or would I get exactly same for same with NHS.
Thank you.
