After dental implant surgery, I can see my jaw next to the buttons, is this normal?

Q.
I have just had dental implant surgery yesterday and although feeling a bit achy in the jaw everything seems to be fine. I have just been brave enough to look at the gum though and it looks as if a part of my jaw is showing through the gum. The dental surgeon did put things he called buttons in to my jaw so I don’t know if it might be one of these I can see. The surgery was at the back top left of my jaw to replace three missing teeth. Does this sound okay.

If in doubt return to the dentist for a review as it is hard for you to now whether it is the white covering of the scab, the bone or the implant that you are looking at,
