A filling I had a long time ago is now a different shade, can the filling be resurfaced?

Hey!! First of all, thanks for reading this! Now, my question: I have a filling on one of my front teeth that I got some years back, but now my teeth are whiter and the filling is…well, a different shade. I know there is a thing called resurfacing the filling, but I was wondering if there is another way to whiten it. Maybe some special whitening technique…? I look forward to hearing from you!!

When you have composite fillings placed they generally match your teeth very well at the time. But over the years, composite material gets discoloured and stains. Unfortunately without re-doing the restoration there is no real way of getting it to match your natural teeth again.

My dentist wants to redo my old silver fillings. The fillings are at least 20 years old but I’m not having trouble with any of them. I’m just wondering what’s the point of redoing the fillings.
If they don’t cause you any problems and there is no sign of any decay present, i don’t see any reason for them to replace them.
