What treatment is available for a Loose front tooth on the lower jaw?

Friday, April 2nd, 2010
Q.
Hi Rob. A very quick question on behalf of my father. He has a loose front tooth on his lower jaw and I wanted to check what his options were in terms of treatment. His 55 years old. I dont know whether dentists still cement loose teeth or whether that practice has stopped. From a quick search on the net it seems that either a denture with a single tooth, core & post or splinting are the 3 main options. Is this case or is there other options? Any information/advice would be hugely appreciated. regards.,

Friday, April 2nd, 2010
Q.
I was just quoted $4,876.00 for a 3 piece bridge replacement, that includes: removal of old silver fillings and decay, buildup, temporary bridge & porc. three pc bridge. I think this is excessive. Can you please let me know if this is in range for this proceedure. Thank you.,

I suffer from serious sinus infections because my tooth broke off, any advice?

Friday, April 2nd, 2010
Q.
I had a tooth pulled that broke off, after the tooth was dug out and I returned home I noticed the hole looked white and I could suck air thru the hole. I had the dentist look at it and he did a graft, well the graft didn’t work. I went back last week I asked him to pack it before he stitched it he said no and cut it and stitched it together. Well he removed the stitches today and i can still suck air thru it. What can I do to get this taken care of it has been almost 2 years since the original tooth, I have gotten serious sinus infections and dont know where to turn. Can you offer any advise?,

A few questions about the invisible mouth guard…

Friday, April 2nd, 2010
Q.
Hey there, well I finally got my fixed braces off after two years! I’ve been given “PFRs”, the invisible mouth guard like ones.. I have a few questions really. *Cleaning What do you suggest I clean them with? My dentist said not to use toothpaste as they will scratch/discolour. He said ‘just use water and a toothbrush’, but this seems really unhygeinic to me, and thus makes me self conscious of odour. Could i use gel toothpaste? Or denture tablets? Just anything apart from water would ease my concerns. How many times should I clean them a day (If i can use toothpaste gel), how does just when I brush my teeth (Morning and night). When i take my retainers out before meals I usually just rinse thoroughly under the cold water. *Drinks Can I drink anything at all with them in? I phoned up to enquire about this, and they said it’s advised not to drink anything with them in, and take them out when I have a drink, but this seems quite unpractical, as each time I take them out i’ve been told to brush my teeth.. What do you suggest I do? – Also, if your answer is that Yes, I can drink, what about fizzy drinks? I know about the sugar touching the teeth and getting cavities, would diet fizzy drinks help? Thanks for any help!,

Can you make a rough crown feel smooth?

Friday, April 2nd, 2010
Q.
When my crown was put in, the dentist had to grind the top of it to fit against the opposing tooth. While doing that he also ground the side of the crown that faces my tongue – not for fit, I think he just slipped. I told him it felt rough (no anesthesia), so he grinded the whole side of the crown to smooth the scratches. It is still rough, not smooth and polished like normal teeth or the other side of the crown, which he did not grind. I find myself rubbing my tongue on it (which has actually made my tongue sore – obsessive, I know!). I am wondering if it is common practice to grind the side of the tooth and if it is possible to put some sort of enamel on it to give it a smooth surface?,

Can I close the gaps in my teeth?

Friday, April 2nd, 2010
Q.
I have a gap in the front of my tooth, What are the ways that this gap can be closed some dentists have suggested having braces and other dentist has said to have veneers but know I dot know what to do. I think that braces might take too long and I dont like the look of metal braces. WHat do most people do to close a gap in a tooh?

Is it true that it takes up to a year for the root canal treatment pain to settle?

Friday, April 2nd, 2010
Q.
I had root canal treatment last December but am still experiencing pain which runs along upper gum towards my ear and down to lower gum. The most recent episode has lasted for two days but previous to that it usually disappeared after a few hours. My dentist says that this is normal and that it can take up to a year to settle. Is this the case? Because if so I dont know if I can put up with it.,
