Is dental work necessary for my daughter?

Q.
I have a question about my 8 year old.She chipped a baby tooth (it is marked S on her chart). The dentist told us the tooth needed to be removed and that a lingual arch needed to be put in. Also, he told us to that that the tooth marked T on the chart had a cavity. He said that this tooth need to be filled and crowned. She has already lost several of her baby teeth. I don’t want to put her through uneeded dental work. Also, I don’t want to have lots of work done on teeth that are going to come out shortly. Can you give me any advice on this? Is the crown really needed? Is the lingual arch really needed? Thanks in advance for any info you can offer.,

Can I have implants at my age?

What could clicking jaw be a sign of?

hello dr; iam from Iran ,around 4 years my jaw click when I open and close my mouth and chewing food but without pain but with bad sound in my mouth . recently this sound in my mouth can hear by someone near to me too and when i am eating hard things like nuts i have found problem with a little pain too. i went to many doctors but without good treatment. iam really worry and i dont know what should i do ? is it possible that i send you the x-ray image of my jaw ? please help me and guid me. excuse me if i cant speak english good. thanks lot rose,

Can braces fix my teeth?

Hi, I am very self concious about my crooked teeth. I had a brace when I was about 17 (now 35) but my teeth have moved an awful lot since then (wisdom teeth came through) so feel I’m back to square one. The problem, when I was 17, was I had a ‘fang’ (as I called it) that grew sort of in front of another tooth at the front, it was quite high above the line of the rest of my teeth. The tooth at the back was extracted and the fang was brought down with the brace. Now it looks horrible again, it sits further forward than the rest of my teeth and also I feel the gum has receeded slightly (its sensitive if anything sweet gets around the top of the tooth). I’m worried it will need extracting?? I’m so sorry to ramble on, I would love to get my teeth straightened again because I’ve been so unhappy for years. I really hope your able to reassure me. How do I go about being treated at a dental school?

Hello Dr Glaister. I would like to ask about something you said in another of your answers. A woman asked about implants and you said “Given the situation it may be worth contacting your local dental hospital as your treatment may well be able to be carried out as part of their teaching programme” Do all dental hospitals offer this kind of treatment in a teaching scenario? If not how would I go about finding a hospital that would consider me for treatment ubder their teaching program, and who would I contact there (which official would deal with such requests) ?,

Dentists did filing but this has caused tooth gap – any help?

i had the same problem my front teeth overlapped too it was a very minor overlap i went to an orthodontist and he recommended some sort of retainer thing and he filed my overlapping tooth down bc he said that my tooth had no space to move so thats why he had filed it down ! but when he filled it down it just made my prob worst :( bc now it looks like a have a gap in between my teeth :( but its been 3 weeks that i wore the retainer i wear it all the time like he said but my teeth have NOT moved ! it still looks like a gap :( what can i do? help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!please,

Is it normal for tongue to bleed?

hi i had a burried tooth in the roof of my mouth which has been exposed. i will be getting a brace in the new year. at the moment i have silver bands on my teeth and some sort of retainter at the roof or my mouth clued to my 2 top teeth. the bands are fine but my tongue keeps rubbing of the metal prongs causing 1 large ulcer. my tongue hits off of it when i swallow. i have been back to the dental hospital and i have had it filled to try and smooth it. is it normal for my tongue to be bleeding and very painful?,
