Do I really have to wait until I am 18 to have teeth crowned?

Friday, January 29th, 2010
Q.
Due to the large amount of decay most of my teeth had, both front teeth and back teeth on the top and bottom, I recently had work done to save the tetth decaying futher. The dentist which did this work said that my teeth would then need crowning to stop decaying futher and to strngthen them. However he also said i would have to wait untill I am 18 years of age due to my teeth still growing. He also said that due to a need for them that this was not a cosmetic matter. I was wondering when is it that adult teeth do stop growing, apart from wisdom teeth, and why I would have to wait the 4-5 months untill i turn 18. Also how much it would be likely to cost to have my teeth crowned considering it is not a cosmetic matter.,

How can I go about getting permanent fangs?

Friday, January 29th, 2010
Q.
Hi I want to get “vampire fangs” it is something i have always wanted, and i had a few questions, 1> How much would it pay to get some PERMANENT “fangs”,2> I also wanted to know if it would cost more if i designed the look of the “fangs” e.g. shape, length, curve. 3> Where can i go to get them done,in either The States, or Canada ( preferably in Ontario) as how i dont have a dentist. 4> would i have problems talking/eating or any other mouth related activities? 5> would the “fangs” have problems like cracking or chipping? if so would that be able to get fixed?,

What A Levels are needed to work to becoming a dentist?

Friday, January 29th, 2010
Q.
HI, it would really help if you would answer this question. I am currently studying my GCSE’s and have wanted to persue a career in dentistry for a very long time. I am determined to get there but I am confused about what A levels are needed to do this. I understand that A level chemistry and Biology is a must, but I have recently Chosen my Alevels and i’d Like to know whether a maths a level is really necessary? I have not chosen this as my alevel because I didn’t think I could achieve an a or b in it. At gcse I manage to get a C-B and Will try hard to get a B in my following exams. So I have chosen Chemistry, Biology English(language and litreture) and phycology for my A levels. is this suitable for a cource in dentistry. I am hoping to get 8A*’s a few A’s and one b in maths, so what do you think! Please get back as soon as possible because I am trying my best to become a sucsessful dentist!,

What treatment is available for receding gums?

Thursday, January 28th, 2010
Q.
Hi, I have recently been noticing a speedier retrace of my gumline lately – i don’t know if this has been impacted upon by my regime of brushing my teeth after every meal! I am very stressed at the moment, and on the one hand glad to learn of gum grafts being an option to this ailment but on the other very concerned at the average cost of £300 per tooth. My question therefore is this how does someone pay for a ‘gumline’ which is in jeopardy as opposed to just an individual tooth? Are there any optional routes to explore via the NHS and would they (the NHS) contribute towards the cost of a gum graft. Kind Regards,

Would braces be done on NHS or private?

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010
Q.
I visited a new dentist for a check up today and they are refering me to an orthodontist. I am 22 and still have a baby tooth, I have been told that my adult tooth has come through but under the skin at the roof of my mouth. They told me that I can have an operation to pull my adult tooth through but then I would need a brace. Do they do this on the NHS or would it have to be private? The tooth causes me discomfort and it looks horrible. Thanks,
