my dentist said there was no difference in between laser and home kit do you agree?

Thursday, April 30th, 2009
Q.
Hello, I’ve been speaking to my dentist about having my teeth whitened. He advised me to go with the take home kit because he believed, the 1hr laser was much more risky in terms of causing damage to gums and blood supply to the teeth as well as an increased risk of tooth sensitivity for up to 6 months. He also said that there was no difference in effectiveness between the 2 techniques. Would you agree with both these statements? Many thanks!

do you know any good periodontist for gum grafting in london are who could help me

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009
Q.
I had orthodontic and later orthognathic treatment in my 20s to fix an open bite. During the orthodontic treatment I suffered irritation and subsequently an infection in the gum around the 1st molar of the upper right side of my mouth, which was not helped by the bracket surrounding it. The area was left untreated for some time (one year approx) and after treatment, involving root planing from my dentist, resulted in a large area of gum recession and some bone loss. Thankfully, when my braces were removed the gum swelling and bleeding gums eventually disappeared I have developed recurring deep pain in the affected area that extends to my upper jaw as well as sensitivity where the root is exposed and where a gap appeared behind the tooth. I’ve approached my dentist about having a gum graft to cover this unsightly area but have been knocked back and told that nothing can be done about it. I feel like I’m being fobbed off and given the minimum consideration especially as my teeth and gums are in otherwise good condition. Do you know of a good periodontist in the London area who could help me as this is making me very depressed? I’m located in West London. (By the way I’m now 33yrs old)
