Tooth still aches after being treated and crowned again

Sunday, March 29th, 2009
Q.
I recently went to the dentist with toothache on both sides of my mouth. I was informed on either side I have decay below fillings. My dentist removed one filling on either upper side of my mouth, put some “medicine” in and temporarily filled them. I now have a crown on the left side with the right side due to be fitted in march. The crown was only fitted last week and already I have the same pain as before. Whilst the temporary filling was in I had no pain whatsoever. is this just wilst the tooth settles or is the crown sitting wrong? I am in agony and dentist away until monday? Help?

The only cure available to my sensitive tooth is removal of the nerve

Sunday, March 29th, 2009
Q.
My front tooth and one my doubles at the side have become very sensitive – on the front one it seems to be at the very top inside I have been back to my dentist three times and he gave me some brown flouridge to apply each night but this has made no difference – he says the only way to cure it now is to remove th nerve. Years ago I remember that there was some type of coating that was put over the teeth and ultra violet light was used to harden it in fact I had a very tiny tooth next to my large front tooth and my dentist at the time made it a bit bigger using this method and it has lasted some 30 years – do you still use this method or have I no alternative other than to have the nerve removed and I assume a cap put on. I need to keep costs to a minimum.

Is there a way o stop grinding? What are the options if crowns cannot be refitted?

Sunday, March 29th, 2009
Q.
Hi, I am in my early 20′s and had 8 porcelain crowns (costing a small fortune!) on my upper front teeth about 4 months ago. The reason for this was mainly cosmetic as I grind my teeth at night and had severely damaged them over the years. My bite is ‘out’ (so I am told) therefore could not have veneers. The problem I have now is after originally adjusting my bite, I am now continuing to grind my teeth at night. I do wear a guard for this but can still notice the edges of the crowns becoming flattened and worry that they will not last me the year! My question is what should I do now? is there a way of putting a stop to my teeth-grinding? how many times can crowns be refitted and what are the options when crowns can not be refitted…false teeth? I would be extremely grateful for your help.

Headaches and facial pain is due to grinding in my teeth

Sunday, March 29th, 2009
Q.
Hi, I have recently been advised that I am suffering from headaches, and facial pain as a result of grinding my teeth at night, and clenching my jaw when anxious. My dentist advised me that I should purchase a special guard to protect my teeth-but that it would cost me £198. I am a Full time student and cannot afford to buy this at that price. I have been told that if you go via your Dr you can sometimes get this for free, is this true, or is there a cheaper alternative? Please help!
