I have a wide gap in the front of my mouth. how do i get it closed

Monday, March 30th, 2009
Q.
I have a wide gap in the front of my mouth. About 15 years ago I had bonding to try to close the gap, however, it really didn’t help. over the years, I have inserted tissue to try to fill in the space (I know it sounds crazy!!) I had been in financial bind for so long that i didn’t have the financial resources to solve the problem. Anyway, now it seems the gap may have gotten a little wider with the insertion of tissue. What I wanted to know is would I be able to get the bonding removed and what is your suggestion for the gap. The size of the gap is about the width of the top of a female pinky finger. I’ve never really spoken to anyone about this matter, so I am really ashamed, but I would like to be able to smile more and be confident about my smile. Any suggestions???

i was thinking of getting laser whitening treatment

Q.
I was thinking of getting laser whitening treatment. i get nhs dental treatments you see and i have false teeth, so theres a chance the whitening treatment could make my teeth appear whiter than my false teeth, so i’d have to get newer whiter false teeth wont i. if i did that, would i have to PAY for these false teeth, as its under cosmetic reasons?

What potential cosmetic treatments are there for me to reduce the size of my teeth and which is the best in your opinion

Monday, March 30th, 2009
Q.
When I was young my teeth were awful. Since having braces when i was 14 my teeth are now quite straight. However, my two front teeth are still quite disproportionally large compared to the rest of my mouth (especially in width), there is also a small chip in my left fron tooth. What potential cosmetic treatments are there for me to reduce the size of my teeth and which is the best in your opinion. Your advice would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks

I do have considerable bone losss. I would like to get my teeth veneered for that perfect smile.

Monday, March 30th, 2009
Q.
I am a 28 year old male who’s teeth appear quite good and straight. I have a history of gum disese in my family and althought I have all my teeth (ex wisdom teeth) I do have considerable bone losss, esp at the back. I regularly visit a periodontist for deep below the gumline cleaning. I would like to get my teeth veneered for that perfect smile. I have only 1 non-porcelin filling. Am I a candidate for this procedure?

have had a couple of amalgam fillings replaced with white ones and the teeth look really grey

Monday, March 30th, 2009
Q.
Hi, I have had a couple of amalgam fillings replaced with white ones and the teeth look really grey (you can tell where the grey filling was) is there any way of rectifying this? Iwas hoping to have all my amalgams replaced but the ones I have had look worse than before! I’d also like to know whether I’d be suiable for tooth whitening if my teeth have tetracyclene staining? Many thanks.

Will the bar that is going to be fit behind my teeth to prevent relapse of the straightening process be visible?

Monday, March 30th, 2009
Q.
Hi Andrew, I’ am 19 and I had fixed braces when I was 13 until 15 and now I have had to go to a priavte clinic to get inman aligners as my teeth have came back to their original position again. My dentist said after I have had my treatment he will have to fit a metal bar going across the back of my teeth that will be on forever so that my teeth wont relapse again, will this metal be noticable?

Will I be able to have two front teeth again? Can the gap be opened up again to fit two front teeth? Can my lateral incisors ether side be used to create a bridge for four teeth?

Monday, March 30th, 2009
Q.
Hi Can you help. I’m 31. healthy teeth no fillings. I had both of my upper central incisors knocked out in my late teens. One was saved but the gap wasn’t filled. Unfortunately the gap got smaller. Over time the saved tooth had to be extracted, as the gap is only wide enough for 1 front tooth I had a Maryland bridge fitted. I have had this now for 4 years. The dentist that did the work assured me if the bridge came out he wouldn’t charge me because it was part of the treatment. When I had to return to have it re-fixed he charged me and said he would continue to charge!! This caused conflict and I haven’t returned since. I am very apprehensive to trust a new dentist and quite embarrassed about my situation. Will I be able to have two front teeth again? Can the gap be opened up again to fit two front teeth? Can my lateral incisors ether side be used to create a bridge for four teeth? Sorry if it sounds complicated Any comments would be appreciated Thanks

my bottom tooth will be hitting against my implant

Monday, March 30th, 2009
Q.
I went to dentist to get an implant on tooth No.7. He previously did a bone augmentation but when he opened the gum he said there was not enough bone to do the implant. He went in there and put some more now I have to wait another 4 months. He also says my bottom tooth will be hitting against my implant in the future cause bottom tooth is crooked and sticks out. He suggest I get a crown but I don’t want them to file down my good teeth. He thinks I may damage the implant ina the future. What should I do??? Thanks.
