Q.
I am informed that I need an apicoectomy on an old root canal treated tooth and that no NHS Dentist can perform it also the local Dentistry Hospital can not perform it. Questions: Is the treatment really going to cost £500? What is the cost or is it a lottery? Where can I find a private dentist who is able to offer this specialist treatment without telephoning every entry of yellow pages? Why is it that an NHS dentist can’t perform the treatment but a private one can afterall they all have the same training ?

I recently had a bridge made for the top of my mouth

Q.
I recently had a bridge made for the top of my mouth, it was an eleven unit bridge supported by 5 teeth. The problem is the bridge has overbite also it is lopsided because my gums have recided on one side. This is the second bridge i have had made because the first had worse overbite and was too big and did not fit my mouth properly.I am now worried that the 5 teeth supporting the bridge (2 front, canine and 2 back teeth) will get too much stress and will have problems. Do you think i would be better just crowning them and going back to what i originally had so if problems did arise the teeth could be worked on. This has been going on 9 months now and i am getting very wary. I just want to go back to what i had, but my dentist says that having crowns on my front teeth wont last i will be better with the bridge, but the bridge is wrong and 11 units held by 5 teeth now seems wrong. Are their any strong porcelain crowns available and what is your opinion on how to proceed. I am pulling my hair out. Thank you

I have had a bridge fitted on my top teeth

Q.
I have had a bridge fitted on my top teeth due to the lateral incisor being missing on one side. I am not happy with the results as the 3 teeth now look bulky, stick out too much and are not a good colour match. I have been back to my cosmetic dentist who has said that it was difficult due to limited space because my canine had moved across a little to compensate for the gap. She has offered to do it again using a porcelain only bridge for a better colour match (& apparently less bulky), but she has warned me that the extra grinding required might kill the tooth and it would then need root canal treatment. She has quoted me £300 extra for a new bridge (plus £150 per tooth for any root canal treatment needed). Do you think opting for an all porcelain bridge is the best option for me now? And do you think it is reasonable for my dentist to request more money when I am unhappy with the initail result? Also, what are the risks of having a dead tooth? My teeth are currently very healthy. Thank you.

my veneers are yellow in between

Hi ive had venneers done about 6 weeks now and in between each tooth is starting to go a yellow colour,i look after them using whitening toothpaste i dont smoke and have cut back drinking tea and coffee to about 2-3 cups a day! i dont drink coke etc!is there anything that i can do ?
