I suffer from bruxism and have ground down my incisors

Thursday, September 25th, 2008
Q.
Hello Dr Solanki, I suffer from bruxism and have ground down my incisors quite a bit. My NHS dentist seems to be unconcerned with this, but I would like them repairing as I am quite concious of how they look. I’m wondering, can this be done and how much would it cost to be done privately? Thanks.

I was in a lot of pain before my root canal treatment

Thursday, September 25th, 2008
Q.
Hi I was in a lot of pain before my root canal treatment but after the first part of the treatment(which was very painful as the dentist said I had some inflamation) I felt no pain at all and it was like a miracle. During my second visit, the dentist spent a lot of time filing in part of my tooth which again was very painful. He then put three long wires into my tooth and took an xray and said he needed to file deeper next visit. He said he wouldn’t be able to root fill the tooth until all the pain had gone when filing inside my tooth.I had this treatment on Wed last week and I am still feeling v. sore. I am really disappointed as I thought all the pain would be over now. Is this normal for soreness to last so long after the second part of the treatment? The dentsit has put medication in my tooth (whatever that is?) What has hapened to the nerve in my tooth? Has the dentist removed/killed it? If so why do I still feel soreness. Many thanks

I have been having treatment for a root canal on 2 teeth

Thursday, September 25th, 2008
Q.
I have been having treatment for a root canal on two teeth. My dentist believes that white fillings will be best for these teeth is this the cas as I am aware that crowns may be best. Also a fracture tooth needs repaired. She believes that white filling will be best. Is this also the case? Due to my previous illness of anorexia and bulima for over ten years this has erroded my teeth and has left them in bad shape at the back. Is there anyway I can build these teeth back up again? I am also aware that people can become models for students in college. I would be happy to do this if I was to recieve good dental treatment. Thankyou for your help. Kind Regards

My wisdom teeth have been pulled out

Thursday, September 25th, 2008
Q.
Hi Dr Caplan, My wisdom teeth have been pulled out (1, 16, 32 and 17 I guess). I had to get number 14 taken out after having it crowned and infected under the crown. Today I had a root canal on number 15, and number 13 has already been repaired and apparently presents another deep infection, according to my dentist. I am considering 2 options to replace missing 14, either the bridge or the implant. 15 is now “gutted”, and 13 not looking too pretty. My dentist recommends the bridge. However, I know that I am going to be losing jaw bone underneath the bridge, since it will not be stimulated by any kind of (prostetic) root. My question is: what would you recommend in my case? In case of a bridge, how heavy of a bone loss can be expected over, say, 10 years, and how long until I would have to have the bride removed and replaced with implants. I am 30 years old, rarely smoke and am in good shape. Thank you for your answer Dr. Caplan.
