I have gum disease and receeding gums do I need gum graft surgery

Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008
Q.
Hi, I have recently experience some minor gum disease (as a result of poor advice from a previous dentist). The gum on my two front teeth has receeded quite badly both upwards and outwards leaving me with very large looking front teeth (they have always been slightly longer than my other teeth). I have done some research on gum graft surgery and don’t necessarily think the situation is severe enough for this, my dentist thinks they fine but I’m really upset by the way they look, is there anything else I can do, it’s making me really unhappy and I’m only 27

will cosmetic contouring straighten my front teeth

Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008
Q.
What is cosmetic contouring? Does it help to straighten teeth? I have good teeth but it’s just my 2 front teeth are slightly forward and the one next to it is slightly back. The rest of my teeth are ok.I was hoping that i would not need to wear braces to fix this. Can anyone please advise me as to what i can do?

I have a root infected molar tooth should I have an implant

Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008
Q.
I have a molar tooth which has been root filled & has had a crown for several years. An infection developed in the gum root which was treated by antiobiotics but my dentist is certain it will recur & has advised removal of this tooth. If I want an implant how long should I wait after extraction due to the posible presence of infection still being there? Can you give me any other advice as to the best way to go about this. Should my own dentist remove the tooth or should the cosmetic dentist do the whole job? Many thanks.

I have huge gums and tiny teeth what would surgery cost

Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008
Q.
Hi there, I am very self-conscious about my smile. I have huge gums and very tiny teeth, they look like baby teeth still. My bottom front teeth wore away all the enamel from my top two front teeth and I have had essentially fillings put on the back of them to stop them wearing down further. I fear now though, that my bottom teeth are now wearing down even more now against these fliings and they’re tiny as it is! I have a deep bite and when I totally clench my teeth you can’t see my bottom teeth at all. I think I would be a good case study! I think I would need the whole lot done! I think I would need my teeth repositioned, gum surgery and possibly veneers, but I’m no expert. :o ) What is your opinion and what would those procedures cost in total?
