Dental Resin

Dental resins are commonly used in dentistry to act as fillers or restorations. Resins are synthetic. Resins were developed as a more aesthetically pleasing alternative to metal amalgam fillings and were considered advantageous as they were inexpensive, malleable and resistant to dehydration. The most common form of fillings used today is the composite resin filling; this is a tooth-coloured substance and therefore produces a natural, attractive smile. Composite fillings are also hard-wearing and durable.
