Centric Relation

centric relation refers to the positioning of the jaw joint when the condoyles, the areas of bone at the top of the jaw, below the ears, are in their most superior (forward) or anterior (backward) position. The centric relation is related to a person’s occlusion which is the relationship between the maxillary (upper) and mandibular (lower) teeth when the jaw is closed.
