Centric occlusion
The term centric occlusion refers to the position of the teeth on opposing occlusal surfaces when the jaw is functioning. If the upper and lower teeth align properly when the jaw is closed this is described as a good occlusion, or bite; if the teeth do not align it may cause an over or under bite, which can cause problems with speech and eating.
