Bonding

The term bonding refers to the technique of attaching a white tooth-like material (this is usually derived from hard plastic) in order to make a bond. The bond is applied to change the physical appearance of the tooth or repair a broken tooth. This is similar to a filling or restoration but is more beneficial and versatile, as it can be used to alter both the size and shape of teeth, as well as rebuilding fractures and correcting disorders.

Bonding is instrumental to giving the appearance of straight teeth, which subsequently improves a person’s smile, as well as preventing malocclusion and speech problems. It is important to take care of the bond; it will stain and erode at the same pace as the existing teeth and therefore a high standard of oral hygiene should be maintained at all times; this includes regular brushing and flossing as well as a healthy diet and frequent visits to the dentist.
