Antagonist
An antagonist counteracts or counterbalances the actions of an agonist. The antagonist opposes the actions of an agonist in structures which are made up of pairs; for example during muscle contraction. In biochemistry, antagonists block or interfere with the actions caused by another substance; for example insulin and glucagon to control sugar levels in the body.
