Analgesia

Analgesia is a loss of the feeling of pain in a situation where pain would normally be experienced; it is caused by an interruption in the nervous system which disrupts the passage of sensory messages being sent between organs and the brain via the spinal cord. Damage to the spinal cord or diseases affecting the nervous system itself can also cause a loss of sensation. This term also refers to the pain-free state brought about by taking pain-killing medications such as morphine.
