Afferent

Afferent describes the process of carrying forward; in the nervous system an afferent nerve delivers the sensory message to the brain from the sensory organ, via the central nervous system. These messages can include sensations of pain or temperature. Often in the mouth nerves carry impulses of heat and cold.
