Aerobic Bacteria

Aerobic bacteria live and thrive in environments where there is a concentrated supply of oxygen. In optimum surroundings aerobic bacteria can reproduce exceptionally quickly. In the mouth bacteria multiply quickly due to the presence of constant supplies of oxygen; while bacteria can be vital for some bodily functions, generally harmful bacteria can cause infections and illnesses if allowed to develop. It is important to maintain a good standard of oral hygiene in order to prevent bacteria growth and subsequent infection. If an infection occurs it may be treated with antibiotics.
