Adjustment

Adjustment refers to the process of moving or adapting a dental implant or prosthesis, such as a denture, once it has been fitted into the mouth. An adjustment is performed in order to improve the appearance or fit of the prosthesis; improving the fit will also improve the patient’s bite and subsequently help speech and eating. This process also prevents abrasion and the development of pockets between the prosthesis and the gum line; these pockets can often lead to a build-up of bacteria which can result in decay and gum disease.
